7 policemen killed, 22 hurt in explosion in Pakistan

A auto bomb attack struck a Pakistani police truck in the southwestern city of Quetta on Wednesday, killing at least five policemen and two civilians.

The bomb went off as a truck carrying 35 police personnel was passing the area.

A suicide bombing claimed by Islamic State at a Sufi Muslim shrine this month killed 22 people and wounded more than 30.

The injured have been shifted to Jinnah Hospital.

Police and FC troops have reached the area, which has been cordoned off for gathering evidence. On October 13, one policeman was martyred while three were injured in a gun attack.

Provincial home minister Sarfaraz Bugti told media that a auto rammed the police vehicle before catching fire, adding it was "apparently a suicide attack".

Speaking to media on Wednesday, Bugti stated that Pakistan is on the front line of terrorism and the country will fight the war till the last terrorist reaches its end. "We will fight the toughest enemies of the country and will emerge victorious in this war", he added. Find us on Facebook too!

Bugti reiterated that territory of Afghanistan is being used for attacks in Pakistan.

Rescue teams, police and security forces rushed to the site after the blast was reported.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi expressed grief on the attack and ordered the authorities to provide best medical treatment on emergency grounds.

Abdul Salam was shot multiple times, police said.

Sarfraz Bhugti, Home Minister of Balochistan, said the attack happened when a suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden vehicle into the security forces truck in Saryab area of Quetta, killing seven people on the spot and wounding 22 others.

Balochistan has experienced incidents of violence and targeted killings for over a decade.
