Black Travelers Warned About Flying With American Airlines By NAACP

This warning comes after multiple passenger interactions with American Airlines that the NAACP calls a pattern of disturbing incidents.

The NAACP has issued a travel advisory warning African Americans about their safety and well being when traveling on American Airlines flights.

"Booking and boarding flights on American Airlines could subject them [to] disrespectful, discriminatory or unsafe conditions", the advisory said.

"We do not and will not tolerate discrimination of any kind", he wrote in the memo.

An African-American woman was moved to the coach section from first class while her white traveling companion remained in first class.

A Boston mother reported that she and her infant child were removed from a flight from Atlanta to NY when the woman, "incidentally a Harvard Law School student", the NAACP said, asked that her stroller be retrieved from the checked-baggage area before she would get off the plane.

He said he had been required by flight attendants to give up his seat after he responded to "disrespectful and discriminatory comments directed toward him by two unruly white passengers". The NAACP says these examples and a couple of others suggest racial bias and can not be dismissed as normal or random.

Backed forces take Syria's largest oil field from IS
The SDF declared the "total liberation" of Raqqa on Friday, which for more than three years was the de facto capital of ISIS. Most of the territory the group once held has been seized by an array of Syrian and Iraqi forces.

The fourth case involves an African-American woman and her infant child who were reportedly kicked off an American Airlines plane in Atlanta in August.

Earlier this year, the NAACP issued a first-ever travel advisory for Missouri. Among them, was the April 2016 incident in which then-president of the NC NAACP Rev. William Barber was removed from a flight from Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C.to RDU International Airport.

Parker said American Airlines had reached out to the NAACP and was "eager to meet with them to listen to their issues and concerns". "The pilot put me in a potentially risky situation with law enforcement as a young, black woman, saying that I was a 'threat, '" Williams, a Harvard Law School student, told the New York Daily News. We expect an audience with the leadership of American Airlines to air these grievances and to spur corrective action.

The NAACP listed some of the incidents accusing American Airlines of racial discrimination.

Johnson said the national travel advisory concerning American Airlines will continue until the group's concerns are addressed.

American Airlines CEO Doug Parker sent an internal memo to American staff addressing the controversy, which was provided to Bustle by the company. That advisory was released because of "questionable, race-based incidents", including a study from the state attorney general's office that said Black Missourians were 75 percent more likely to be pulled over by law enforcement officers.
