Mueller Investigating Flynn Meeting With Pro-Russia GOP Lawmaker

Former White House National Security Adviser Mike Flynn and his son were proposed $15 million to abduct Fethullah Gulen in Pennsylvania to illegally return him back to Turkey, according to Wall Street Journal's (WSJ) sources on Friday.

The meeting in question took place in Washington on September 20, 2016 and was arranged by Flynn's lobbying firm, the Flynn Intel Group.

Flynn is a central figure in Mueller's investigation because of conversations he had with then-Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak a year ago and because he waited until March to retroactively register with the Justice Department as a foreign agent for the work he did for a Turkish businessman.

But a new report in today's Wall Street Journal should rock the Trump administration, if not the president himself, because it deals with post-election conduct that may have continued even after the inauguration.

However, Flynn's counsel did speak up this week following a report from the Wall Street Journal that Mueller was looking into reports that Flynn and his son, Michael Flynn Jr., planned to kidnap a Turkish official living in the USA and bring him back to Turkey. "We should not provide him safe haven". The intelligence community has pointed to Russian Federation as the secret provider of the email trove to WikiLeaks. All rights reserved. Instead, Mueller made his first public splash by indicting Paul Manafort and his aide Rick Gates and cutting a plea deal with foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos - all for conduct during or predating the campaign. Less is known about his lobbying ties to Russian Federation, though he was paid $45,000 plus expenses for attending a gala in Moscow in December 2015 and being interviewed by RT, the Kremlin-financed cable TV news channel.

Flynn, a retired lieutenant general who was previously head of the Defense Intelligence Agency, became the White House national security advisor after Trump took office on January 20, 2017.

This comes five days after NBC News reported that Mueller's team has "gathered enough evidence to bring charges" against Flynn and his son.

"Out of respect for the process of the various investigations regarding the 2016 campaign, we have intentionally avoided responding to every rumour or allegation raised in the media", Flynn's lawyer Robert Kelner told the press.

The focus of Mueller's investigation is to examine whether a discussion at 21 Club in NY leading to a deal to transport the cleric to Turkey would have resulted in Flynn receiving millions of dollars in secret payments, and whether Flynn was, in fact, part of that discussion.
