It's confirmed, different types of alcohol trigger different emotions in people

53 percent of the people who took part in the survey revealed that they felt relaxed after drinking red wine. Almost 60 percent of liquor drinkers said the booze makes them feel energized and confident, but they also were more likely to feel aggressive, ill, restless or tearful compared with people drinking red wine or beer.

About half of those who drink red wine and beer said it makes them feel relaxed and mellow, results from the Global Drug Survey show.

Drinking spirits was more likely to draw out negative feelings than all the other types of alcohol, according to the study by Public Health Wales in the UK. Conversely, though, you might also get sleepy or a little low-energy from a red wine tipple; tiredness has a whopping 60.08 percentage, while feeling energized only rates as 7.14 percent.

Spirits brought out bad feelings, with about a third of spirit drinkers associating the drink with aggression. Meanwhile, just 2.5% of red wine drinkers reported feeling more aggressive.

Co-author Professor Mark Bellis, who is also Public Health Wales' director of policy, research and worldwide development, added: "For centuries, the history of rum, gin, vodka and other spirits has been laced with violence". Broken down by gender, men were more likely to feel aggressive with all alcohol. "This can result in a quicker stimulating effect as blood alcohol levels increase", Bellis was quoted as saying by "The Telegraph". According to the current study, though, drinking whiskey ups a whole hosts of emotions, from confidence to aggression.

A study of 30,000 18 to 34-year-olds from 21 countries has found that we do indeed have different emotional responses to different alcohol types.

Christmas trees to see price hike due to shortage
For one, the tradition of putting up a tree is itself a bit shrouded in the fog of history. "It won't be astronomical". Local tree farmers added that states like Arizona, California, and Texas will feel the tree shortage the most in 2017.

Confidence and sexiness make up the middle ground here; 27.88 percent reported feeling confident and 25.20 percent reported feeling sexy.

Various factors may influence people's associations with alcoholic beverages, the authors said.

But he added: 'It is worth also bearing in mind that there are compounds apart from alcohol in different drinks. Spirits were also linked with restlessness and tearfulness, as well as aggression. The exception was aggression, which was more commonly reported by men (36.97% of men compared to 31.27% of women). The heaviest drinkers were twice as likely as light ones to say it made them feel confident but six times as likely to feel aggressive.

These findings suggest that dependent drinkers may rely on alcohol to generate the positive emotions they associate with drinking, as they were five times more likely to feel energised than low risk drinkers, the researchers said. The emotional side of drinking is another important aspect to consider when trying to tackle alcohol related harms.

This study is useful in that it can help health campaigners understand why people choose a type of alcohol in a certain situation.
