Robinho Handed Nine-year Term For Rape

Robinho Handed Nine-year Term For Rape

The forward, 33, has reportedly been found guilty of sexual assault while at a Milan disco on January 22, 2013.

The 33-year-old is now playing for Atletico Mineiro in Brazil.

Prosecutors had requested jail terms of 10 years, reported the ANSA news agency, and one of Robinho's alleged friends, Ricardo Falco, another Brazilian, was sentenced to nine years.

A Milan court ruled that Robinho and five other Brazilians assaulted the woman, who was 22 at the time, after plying her with alcohol in a discotheque.

Under Italian law he won't be sentenced until the appeals process has been finalised - which could take years.

Five other men were also accused of the same crime.

The most recent script was written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet with previous drafts penned by Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman. Details on Captain Marvel are still mostly under wraps, but we know it'll be an origin story set in the early 1990s.

As Robinho is a Brazilian national now residing in his home country, however, he is highly unlikely to face jail time for his offences.

Robinho's lawyer, Marisa Alija, issued a statement saying that "We clarify that he has already defended himself from these allegations, and insist he had no participation in that episode".

"All legal steps are already being taken in response to this decision".

On the final day of the 2008 summer transfer window, City's wealthy new owners showed their intent by breaking the British transfer record to lure him from Real Madrid for £32million.

He then had spells at his first club Santos again, AC Milan, Guangzhou Evergrande before he joined Atletico Mineiro.

Robino played at AC Milan later after 16 months where he won the Serie A title with players like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Antonio Cassano.
