Xiaomi launches Redmi 5A with 13MP rear camera in just $77

As expected, Xiaomi has officially launched their latest budget smartphone Redmi 5A in India.

Recently, Xiaomi has been teasing its fans in India with campaign "Desh Ka Smartphone" (smartphone of the country).

While the smartphone's exact pricing remains a mystery at this point, it is likely that Micromax will price it competitively against Xiaomi's offering.

For camera buffs, Xiaomi offers 13 MP rear camera. Successor to the Bharat 4 from earlier this year, the upcoming smartphone is rumored to have one major advantage against the Xiaomi Redmi 5A. It is also expected to come with Android 7.1.2 and MIUI on the device.

Once the update rolls out, your friends and the content that brands share will be separated into two completely separate tabs. From the camera screen, swipe to the left side to find a new, dynamic Friends page , with the friends you talk to the most.

Xiaomi says the price of the phone will be available for ₹4,999 for the first 5 million units.

As far as Jio and Xiaomi's offer is concerned, the telecom player has launched a new plan just for Redmi 5A users.

Though it's not much different from the company's past phones in the budget segment (remember the Redmi 4A?), this time the price makes a big difference. The phone will come with a dual camera setup at the back, featuring a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. There's also a higher memory variant with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. It will arrive with the same cameras as the Redmi 5, and both devices are rumored to arrive with a 4,000mAh non-removable battery, though it's possible that they will sport a somewhat smaller battery on the inside. Under the hood, it has a 3000mAh battery which provides the power. There will be another variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage. It will be available starting December 7 at 12pm from Flipkart and Mi.com, and Mi Home Stores.

Xiaomi has finally listened to the demands of a vocal niche that doesn't prefer the hybrid SIM tray, and the Redmi 5A comes with a 2+1 card slot which allows you to use two nano SIMs and a microSD card to expand the storage all at once. Xiaomi will also launch these smartphones in Pakistan and other Asian countires very soon. It will feature Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) with an LED flash.
