JAY-Z leads with eight nominations and will face off against Kendrick Lamar and Bruno Mars for Record and Album of the Year.

Nor has a hip-hop track ever won song or record of the year. It's been 14 years since Outkast took home the award for Speakerboxxx/The Love Below.

Despite the (mostly) quality major categories, the Academy did what it does best and still find a way to screw it up. Awards will be given for best new artist, record of the year, song of the year and album of the year, as well as myriad genre-specific categories. SZA, who earned five nomations, and Khalid will go toe-to-toe for Best New Artist. Having two hip-hop albums nominated for the prestigious category is also a big deal.

With two nominations, Cardi B is shaking up the category. Kesha's stunning comeback album was a narrative throughout the entire summer, while Styles's debut solo album marked one of the best pop albums of the year. And even that seems generous, given his laughable new album (but that's never stopped the Academy before).

You might remember last year when Adele, crying and cradling her Grammy for Album of the Year at the end of the night, tearfully told audiences that Beyoncé actually deserved the award. Twenty-seven-time Grammy victor Alison Krauss, the leading victor among female artists in Grammy history, scored two nominations for tracks from her Windy City LP, "Losing You" and "I Never Cared for You". See the full list on the Grammys website.

Miranda Lambert scored a pair of nominations, with "Tin Man" in the running for Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance, though her album The Weight of These Wings was shut out. The biggest, and most surprising, snub is Jack Antonoff; despite his work with Lorde, Swift, Pink, and St. Vincent, the go-to mind for pop music this year didn't get a nod for Best Producer. Other artists that are up for major awards include Bruno Mars and Childish Gambino.

Apple claims Qualcomm's Snapdragon processors use their patented technology
This is of course a countersuit, dating back to a lawsuit Qualcomm filed against Apple on exactly the same grounds. Apple has once again sued the world's largest mobile chip manufacturer Qualcomm.
