Is Elon Musk's story about sending a auto to Mars fake news?

"Falcon Heavy to launch next month from Apollo 11 pad at the Cape", Musk tweeted.

SpaceX also ultimately plans to be able to recover all three rocket cores that power the Falcon Heavy, just like it's done over the previous year with main rocket booster stage of its Falcon 9s. Rather fittingly, the vehicle will play David Bowie's 1969 classic "Space Oddity" as it orbits Mars. The Falcon Heavy rocket features 27 Merlin engines and boasts at least double the thrust of any other rocket on the market.

Musk says that the first Falcon Heavy's payload will be his midnight cherry Tesla Roadster playing Space Oddity song in it. The company pushed back Heavy's first flight a few times: it was originally gunning for a summer launch but eventually moved it to November (and then again to December). "Will be in deep space for a billion years or so if it doesn't blow up on ascent", he added.

The rocket's triumvirate of boosters give Falcon Heavy substantially more thrust than Falcon 9 though, allowing the larger rocket to carry more than 140,000lb into lower Earth orbit and 37,000lb to Mars. It's a more powerful rocket that the company hopes to use for missions to the Moon and Mars.

Falcon Heavy is the sequel to SpaceX's Falcon 9.

NASA fires 'Voyager 1' after 37 years
Humanity's farthest and longest-lived spacecraft are celebrating 40 years in August and September 2017. After almost four decades of dormancy, the Aerojet Rocketdyne manufactured thrusters fired perfectly.

The rocket will be capable of lifting more than 54 metric tons, which is equal to a 737 jetliner full of fuel, luggage, crew, and passengers.

Falcon Heavy is, in overly simple terms, three of the company's Falcon 9 rockets strapped together.

He wants to land at least two of the spacecraft on Mars in 2022 carrying equipment - and then ones transporting people in 2024.

But Musk has also said the rocket has a good chance of blowing up before it reaches earth orbit. Its objectives will be to identify hazards and confirm water resources while putting an initial life support, mining, and power infrastructure in place.
