Samsung's 2018 Notebook 9 Lineup is Getting New Additions

Last year, Samsung kept the design of its Notebook 9 simple and light but didn't sport attractive features like high-resolution display or hybrid design.The new Notebook 9 Pen is ready to take on Microsoft Surface devices with its built-in battery-free S Pen stylus.

Oddly enough, while the May 2017-announced Notebook 9 Pro wielded a productivity-enhancing S Pen in both 13 and 15-inch variants, there's only one new stylus-sporting configuration. The new Notebook 9 (2018) and Notebook 9 Pen are aimed at consumers looking for mobile computing experience both at work, and at home. They also include the "largest and most powerful battery" Samsung has ever placed in a notebook, weighing in at 75 Wh. The 13.3-inch model comes with one USB Type-C port, two USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI port and a United States dollars card slot.

The Samsung Notebook 9 (2018) and 9 Pen are launching this month in Korea and in Q1 in the US. The devices come with the 1920 x 1280 resolution displays with Intel HD graphics. Expect US pricing info at CES 2018.

Samsung has also packed a RealView display into both versions of the Notebook 9, offering what the company describes as life-like colors.

All of the new PCs include Intel's new eighth-generation U-series Core i7 processors, which means that they're quad-core and there's going to be a significant boost in performance from the last generation. The 15-inch model offers a wider selection of port including a Thunderbolt 3.0 port, two USB 3.0 port, one USB 2.0 port, one HDMI port and microSD card slot.

Those with an eye for style will probably notice the machines' aluminum-magnesium alloy chassis and slim profiles before anything else. The devices are said to be relying upon Intel's eight-generation Core i7 processors along with integrated graphics. It is also expected to support fast charging. The Notebook will be providing 16GB of system memory and 512GB of SSD storage. The notebook features a 360-degree hinge that allows for the notebook to be used in tablet mode or tent mode. The front-facing IR camera supports facial authentication through Windows Hello. Pricing for the Notebook 9 Pen hasn't been revealed either. But it may give some details on it at the CES 2018 tech show in Las Vegas next month. USA sales are scheduled to start sometime during the first quarter of 2018.
