Salvation Army Kettle Campaign $9 Million Behind Target

Salvation Army Kettle Campaign $9 Million Behind Target

As we first reported last week, the Meadville Salvation Army was hit by fire, which destroyed all of the food and toys that had been collected for 200 families this holiday season.

The Salvation Army-Fox Cities will give out donated gifts to thousands of local children this week. I think we exceeded that.

Those interested in volunteering can call the Salvation Army at 815-672-2746.

"These toys will help fill those angels who are missing or were not returned", said Maj. Donations are down 10% from a year ago so far.

Major John Flanagan says donations have been overwhelming this year, but their red kettle campaign is struggling, because it's now a plastic world. Suggs said there are around 2,000 employees (including on-site supplier workers) at the Blue Springs plant.

Possibility of Nuclear war can not be ruled out, says Pak NSA Janjua
The shocking comment came days after the United States backed India against Pakistan. He accused India of stockpiling risky weapons and threatening Pakistan with war.

Hickman comments that they have had a tremendous response from the community both in terms of giving and volunteering, yet the final week before Christmas is usually when the Kettle campaign makes up to 50 percent of their fundraising income.

The Salvation Army said it will have the two bars appraised by a professional to determine their values.

Students have been participating in this drive for five years, and in that time frame, more than 7,000 toys have been donated.

In the months leading up to the large-scale Christmas assistance, the Salvation Army helped dozens of people in financial crisis to pay for their rent and mortgage, utilities, medical needs, furniture, clothing and many other necessities, according to the statement.
