Stick, Bison win 6th title

Stick, Bison win 6th title

He forced a fumble with a sack in the second quarter and ended the Bison's first drive of the second half with a sack.

It was the defensive battle of the top two scoring defenses in the FCS, with first downs at times a precious commodity by both teams.

NDSU - Derrek Tuszka had 6 tackles and 2 sacks. They needed some points badly before kicking away to NDSU to start the third quarter, and Stapelton's snaring of this one - momentarily pinning it to the helmet of the Bison's Josh Hayes - got them across midfield to at least set up a field goal. NDSU took a 17-13 lead into the fourth quarter with the appearance of next score wins. JMU running back Marcus Marshall rushed for 30 yards and a score. Looking to get down the field in a hurry, Schor hit redshirt sophomore wide receiver Riley Stapleton on a 27-yard pass, but Stapleton fumbled the ball as he was tackled.

Said James Madison coach Mike Houston: "They made the plays". Amos finished with three punt returns for 79 yards. It was capped off by a 1-yard run from Marcus Marshall. After taking over at their own 44-yard line, Stick handed the ball off to Anderson for 13 yards on two plays and Dunn for two yards on two plays before whistling a dart to junior wide receiver Darrius Shepherd, who converted a wide-open pass downfield into a 50-yard touchdown to extend NDSU's lead to 14-3.

North Dakota State made Madison's offense look rusty. They made the plays when they had to and we didn't. For James Madison, quarterback Bryan Schor completed 14 of 32 passes for 148 yards and two interceptions.

Jerry Van Dyke, comedian and actor, dies at 86
Van Dyke's family confirmed his passing Friday to CBS Affiliate WCIA , in the actor's native IL . Jerry received four consecutive Emmy nominations for the part. "I say: 'Comeback from what?"

"Most important things to us was don't flinch", said NDSU cornerback Marquise Bridges on the fake punt.

James Madison scored on its first possession of the third quarter to close within 17-13. It led to a 32-yard Pedersen field goal and it was 17-3. On first down from the Bison 15-yard line, Tanguay grabbed the short, wobbly throw and returned it to the NDSU 29.

A scrambling Schor, under heavy pressure and off balance, heaved it in the end zone and the ball fell incomplete.

The Bison held it heading into the fourth quarter.
