Liverpool reportedly unlikely to pursue top target

Arsenal and Liverpool have received a big boost in their pursuit of Monaco star Thomas Lemar, as boss Leonardo Jardim hints that he could leave.

Jurgen Klopp has identified the France worldwide as his primary target to replace Philippe Coutinho, who joined Barcelona in a club-record £142m deal on Saturday, 6 January.

Lemar had been close to making a switch to the Premier League with Arsenal last summer as Arsene Wenger looked to sign the £90m-rated forward to replace Manchester City-bound Sanchez.

Lemar has been included in Monaco's squad for Tuesday's Coupe de la Ligue quarter-final at Nice, but striker Radamel Falcao is out with a calf injury.

The 21 year old French worldwide has been one of the hottest prospects in world football and both Arsenal and Liverpool are looking at him to fill voids in their squads.

Klopp said: "We have never been in a better position in recent times, as a club, to react in the right way". He rose to prominence by playing a supporting role in the attack alongside Kylian Mbappe and Radamel Falcao in Monaco's title-winning last season.

James Damore is suing Google for alleged discrimination against white male conservatives
In a new lawsuit, Damore claimed that Google "singled out, mistreated, and systematically punished and terminated" anyone who didn't share their liberal views.

Jardim said: "We are not used to selling in the winter".

The French midfielder - who nearly moved to the Gunners on the summer deadline day - nodded home after just three minutes on the French Riviera.

The Gunners looked certain to land the mercurial France worldwide after what would have been a club record fee was agreed.

"And then going to Liverpool where, okay, like I say it's great but you might not play much and when you play you might be gapped because you will need a little bit of time to adapt to the league and to the culture and to the language and everything, six months before a World Cup, so it's just not a given". Jardim has claimed that many things could happen in January and has kept the door open for Lemar sale.
