After leading the field in Globes nominations, Del Toro's fantastical romance about a mute woman (Sally Hawkins) who falls in love with an aquatic humanoid creature also topped the BAFTA pack with 12 nominations, including for best film, director and screenplay along with nods for Hawkins and supporting actress Octavia Spencer.

Over at Film4, there was delight for the success of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri so soon after it emerged triumphant in L.A. on Sunday.

"We're so delighted to have been recognised by BAFTA for our debut film", said William Oldroyd (Director), Alice Birch (Writer) and Fodhla Cronin O'Reilly (Producer).

She announced that BAFTA, with other industry bodies, was setting out principles and guidelines with the goal to "rest the tone" of the industry. Darkest Hour also received nominations for best film and for Kristin Scott Thomas in the supporting-actress category.

Jordan Peele's horror satire "Get Out", which scored two Globes nominations and is considered a possible contender for a best picture Oscar nod, earned BAFTA nominations for lead actor Daniel Kaluuya and for Peele's screenplay.

BAFTA also nominated First They Killed My Father for Film Not In The English Language.

And hence she got a sweet surprise from her co-star Shah Rukh Khan as she got back on the sets of her upcoming film Zero . Anushka and Katrina also together appeared on Karan Johar's celebrity-based talk show Koffee With Karan , last year.

"Darkest Hour" is set in the early days of World War II, when British Prime Minister Winston Churchill had to make a decision on whether to negotiate with Hitler.

The film is nominated for several awards.

"Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri" is a film about a mother, frustrated with a police investigation into her daughter's death, who goes to great length to push authorities to catch the killer.

"We're absolutely thrilled Martin McDonagh's Three Billboards has been recognized by BAFTA and its members with nine nominations - and following such a successful weekend at the Golden Globes", said Film4 director Daniel Battsek, adding that Film4 had backed all of McDonagh's films to date. Actor Stephen Fry stepped down last year after 12 years hosting the show.

The awards will take place at the Royal Albert Hall in London on February 18.
