North Korea: Popularity of 'Fire and Fury' foretells Trump's end

I want to jump off with some of the more recent developments around Fire and Fury, including Steve Bannon's apology for statements that he was quoted as making in the book. The controversy ensued following the release of a book that featured Bannon criticizing the president and two of his children.

In an interview with TIME, Wolff admitted that receiving a threat from President Trump and his legal team to stop the publishing of "Fire and Fury" was both "ludicrous and scary".

Although Bannon was sacked from his White House position by Trump in August, he had been a close Trump associate since he joined the Trump campaign and helped the political novice defeat Democrat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election. Trump's former chief strategist is one of the book's major sources. As one of the most prominent journalists in the country at the moment, he isn't helping his profession's collective reputation, even if his work did yield some valuable insight into the White House.

On Tuesday, Bannon was forced to step down as chairman of Breitbart News Network, less than a week after Bannon's explosive criticisms of Trump and his family were published in Wolff's book.

Wolff said he believed Bannon was confident that Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore, before he was accused of sexual misconduct with minors, would win the Senate special election in Alabama. Kushner also forwarded the email to Hope Hicks, the communications aide who is now White House communications director, according to The Atlantic.

"I'm always amazed at the lengths people will go to, to lie for money and for power".

Savannah Guthrie inquired - Wolff replied, "I certainly said what was ever necessary to get the story".

We are going to take a very, very strong look at that.

Amid the accusations, Wolff maintained that his book is absolutely true. Burck has also reportedly represented White House Counsel Don McGahn and former White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus in response to Special Counsel Robert Mueller's probe into the Russian Federation issue. He pressed the case again on Sunday, tweeting: "I've had to put up with the Fake News from the first day I announced that I would be running for President".

As I wrote after Wolff's "Today" appearance, the author's methods do not directly undermine the veracity of his reporting.

Some tend to think that to Steve Bannon, it's all a big game, and eventually he will find his way back into President Trump's good graces.
