Kristen Wiig comedy series produced by Reese Witherspoon is picked by Apple

It will be a 10-episode series which will mark Wiig's return to the small screen after she left Saturday Night Live in 2012. Kristen Wiig is not only going to be starring in the show, but will also be an executive producer.

The series is created by Colleen McGuinness (30 Rock), who will serve as showrunner and is inspired by Curtis Sittenfeld's upcoming short-story collection You Think It, I'll Say It. Witherspoon will executive produce via her Hello Sunshine banner along with Lauren Neustadter and Wiig. The still-untitled show - which has yet to be attached to a studio - is the tech company's first big scripted comedy series, though it's not Apple's first project with Witherspoon. Sittenfeld will serve as a consulting producer. She has focused on movies, including "Bridesmaids", "Ghostbusters", and the recent "Downsizing" opposite Matt Damon. She has two other series in the works with Apple, an untitled show with Jennifer Aniston and a true crime drama with Octavia Spencer.

And Witherspoon's enormous Apple paycheck had a heavy influence on her tripled salary for season two of HBO's "Big Little Lies", THR reported.

Wiig is repped by UTA and Jackoway Tyerman.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, this pay rise is a step up from their previous $US250,000- $US350,000 per episode.
