New leaks show off next-gen Xbox Elite Controller

Fans hoping for a new Xbox One Elite Controller may have to wait until E3 2018 in June for an official announcement. The rumored alterations are: Windows 10 Bluetooth support, a USB-C port, a built-in battery pack, adjustable thumbstick tension, three-level hair trigger locks, a switch to swap between three preset profiles, longer key travel for the paddles, and new grips that are allegedly more resistant to wearing down.

The original Duke controller isn't the only piece of hardware Microsoft has in store for us if new reports are to be believed.

The Verge notes that Microsoft filed a patent in December for an adjustable lock design for controller thumbsticks, which these images appear to contain, potentially lending credibility to the images.

Another image posted to Reddit appears to show the entire controller, with newly designed grip sections. The battery that was reportedly coming with the next Elite controller was a rechargeable one, but players supposedly wouldn't be able to remove it as most Xbox controllers allow. Perhaps with this redesign, Microsoft has been able to solve that particular issue. However, no information was provided on when Microsoft plans to release this new Elite controller model, nor how much it may cost when it is launched. Before Microsoft has had a chance to officially announce or unveil its new Xbox Elite controller.

Hopefully it makes it to India sooner than the current Xbox Elite Controller did - a whole year after its worldwide debut. This year's GDC will take place in San Francisco from March 19 until March 23.

Microsoft made one of the best gamepads ever in 2015 when it introduced the Xbox Elite controller.
