Multiple injured after train crash at Sydney's Richmond station

New South Wales police said on Monday that the train had crashed into a buffer at the end of the train line while "slowing to stop at the station".

No one was trapped inside the train, the NSW Police said, although there were earlier reports that claim three passengers were "trapped" and were later freed.

Emergency services were notified just after 10am.

Three helicopters, 17 ambulance crews, Fire and Rescue NSW crews and SES crews were on the scene.

"I understand that the train on Platform 2 at Richmond has hit the buffers pretty hard", he told reporters.

Multiple injuries have been reported following a train crash in Sydney's north west on Monday morning.

Paramedics treated 15 people following the accident.

Triage area has been set up at the scene to assess and treat injured passengers.

Rocket Lab launches second successful flight
Rocket Lab founder and chief executive Peter Beck said the launch marked the beginning of a new era in commercial access to space. A second attempt took place later the same day, but again had to be cancelled due to poor weather conditions. "Very nice launch.

"Our main priority obviously given today is getting to the bottom of what has occurred here, and as I said, our thoughts are with those who were injured".

One passenger was believed to suffer spinal injuries.

"I was straight onto the train as soon as I seen people were injured". Their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Transport NSW confirmed no customers or staff remain trapped.

"It's all chaos here", another caller, Steve, told the station.

A Sydney Trains spokesperson said they are "aware" of the incident.

Pictures from the scene showed the train was still upright on the tracks and carriages did not appear crumpled.

The train involved was a new Waratah train but Mr Collins said nothing indicates the other Waratahs needed to be halted for now.
