Legendary performer Elton John has today announced details of his final farewell global tour.

John has suffered several medical setbacks of late, including a bacterial infection a year ago that he contracted during a South American tour and an E. coli bacterial infection in 2009. "I want to go out with a bang, and say thank you and leave people thinking, 'God, I saw the last tour and it was fantastic'".

Singer Elton John announced Wednesday that his upcoming world tour will be his last, but Los Angeles fans will have two chances to see the piano-playing icon in concert.

He will kick off a mammoth 300-date Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in the United States in September before arriving in the UK and Europe in April 2019.

"It will be the last time that I'm touring and travelling the world, because my priorities have changed", Elton John told journalists at a NY event, following a small concert and a virtual reality presentation of his career. Tickets will go on sale on Friday, February 9th at 9am. "My priorities have changed", he said, adding that he wants to focus on his children and his husband David Furnish.

During the live-streamed announcement hosted by CNN's Anderson Cooper, Elton refuted rumours that poor health had motivated his decision to stop touring, saying, "I'm in great health".

He does a pretty good job of answer that question and pleasing the NY audience, though, when he selects a Madison Square Garden show in 1974, where he was joined onstage by the late Beatle. 1, 2018, in Atlanta at Philips Arena; Dec. 6, 2018, in New Orleans at Smoothie King Center; March 12, 2019, in Raleigh, N.C., at PNC Arena; March 13, 2019, in Columbia, S.C., at Colonial Life Arena; and March 15, 2019, in Jacksonville, Fla., at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.

His six-year Las Vegas residency is due to come to an end in May.

The Grammys will also pay tribute to him with a star-studded concert at the Theater at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, featuring Keith Urban, John Legend and Miranda Lambert.
