Michigan State Delayed Sending Larry Nassar Files in Title IX Investigation

In 2014, Nassar was cleared in an investigation by the school after a woman alleged he assaulted her. Attorneys for Michigan State have said Nassar's sexual abuse was invidious in form, hard to detect, and that university officials did not mishandle prior complaints.

Nothing can begin to be healed until Michigan State purges its ranks from the top, starting with the immediate demand from the board for Simon's resignation or then her firing outright.

Also a former team doctor for USA Gymnastics, he was sentenced to 40 to 175 years' imprisonment after testimony from nearly 160 women.

Many of Nassar's victims claimed the school mishandled the complaints against Nassar [VIDEO], some which go back twenty years. She said in a statement that it is "clear that the public has lost confidence" in Michigan State's administration, and "changes are needed to move the university forward". "But I assume, I'd like to hope, that the president of my university would be responsible for protecting me as a student, and if she were to hear about any of this that it would immediately be reported".

Lou Anna Simon, who resigned under pressure Wednesday as Michigan State's president, insisted, "There is no cover-up".

Nassar worked at MSU for nearly 30 years as a sports doctor. She called it the "perfect environment" for Nassar and abusive coaches "to thrive".

Rachael Denhollander, who was one of the first women to publicly accuse Nassar, pointed the finger at MSU in court on Wednesday.

He faces a minimum prison term of 25 to 40 years for assaulting victims with his hands.

Pence Vows US Embassy In Jerusalem Will Open In 2019
The decision led to widespread protests in which 30 Palestinians were killed by Israeli security forces, Efe news reported. Vice President Mike Pence meets with Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem on January 22.

The women tell a consistent story: During osteopathic treatment for an injury, Nassar penetrated their vagina and/or anus with his ungloved fingers, and he typically did it without consent or much explanation. Simon will also get office space on campus and "secretarial support", plus a lifetime of technical support for both her and her spouse.

Simon has spent her entire professional career, more than 40 years, at MSU. "Michigan State University will cooperate with any investigation".

The announcement comes on the heels of the sentencing of convicted sexual assaulter and former MSU doctor Larry Nassar.

They made riveting statements while confronting Nassar in a Lansing, Michigan, courtroom. The National Collegiate Athletic Association on Wednesday sent a letter of inquiry into how Michigan State University handled reports of Nassar's abuse. Through its inability or lack of desire to respond properly over more than 20 years of allowing Nassar to use its facilities to commit violent crimes and on into its continued failure to do the right things, even in this moment of reckoning, the school is proving that it is only concerned with its own defense.

"As tragedies are politicized, blame is inevitable", she said in statement.

Ms Denhollander said trauma she suffered had "cast a horrific shadow" over her medical care when she gave birth to three children, including two daughters.

At least 35 more victims want to speak.
