New Feature Shows When You Screenshot Instagram Stories

New Feature Shows When You Screenshot Instagram Stories

Other users who are part of the test have gotten a notification from Instagram saying that the next time they screenshot a story, the person who posted it will be notified.

The feature that shows when you screenshot Instagram stories only shows who has watched the story when you tap the "seen by" area at the bottom left corner. As seen from the image attached above, the users will get notified by a loading image next to the person who has taken a screenshot. As TechCrunch reports, those who take a screenshot will appear in the list of story viewers with a camera shutter logo next to their name. Assuming everything goes well with the test, we'll likely see this roll out on a wide scale soon, so stay tuned for more.

And, just like Snapchat, stories on Instagram are only available for 24 hours.

Similar to Snapchat snaps, Instagram stories have always had a shelf life ― if you miss them, you're out of luck.

Of course, this is not good news for the people who switched from Snapchat to Instagram Stories only to avoid being caught when screen grabbing content.

Instagram confirmed last month that it was testing the tool. Another kind soul took a screenshot of what that looks like and shared it (see below).

Instagram is slowly rolling-out the new functionality to users worldwide. While this applies to all, celebrity users would no doubt have much to cheer from the new development as they are often key targets of the stalkers. It will let users share public feed posts from other users to their Story. Like there is a chance that people might stop watching stories in greater number as they would not be able to take screenshots anonymously.

Such a measure to pick out stalkers should also be a huge boost towards ensuring the privacy of the Instagram users.
