Doping Officials Praise Olympics as Russia Ban Lasts Through Closing Ceremony

Before the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, IOC released a statement saying that they would lift the ban from Russia if they don't get any doping Russian athletes during the Winter Games.

But Bach said the IOC had sent a "clear message" on Russian Federation, who competed as "Olympic Athletes from Russia" and will now be unable to fly the national flag at Sunday's closing ceremony.

Bach said Russia's ban from Olympic participation will automatically be lifted if anti-doping officials do not find any more Russian drug cases at Pyeongchang, where two Russians tested positive.

But while the Olympic Athletes from Russian Federation following restrictions on displaying their nationality, two of the team's athletes failed doping tests, including curling bronze medalist Alexander Krushelnitckii, part of a successful mixed doubles team.

In a statement, the Institute of National Anti-Doping Organisations (iNADO) "acknowledged" the decision to maintain the suspension of the Russian Olympic Committee for the closing ceremony.

Why was Russia's Olympic Committee banned?

Appearing in a promo wearing the aforementioned shirt, Sports Illustrated reports that Nadezhda Sergeeva has tested positive for trimetazdine, a medication that is banned by the World Anti-doping Agency for affecting the metabolism.

'I think at the end of this Olympic Winter Games at Pyeongchang 2018 we can all be very happy for many different reasons, and the IOC is very happy about the great success of these Olympic Games, ' he said.

George W Bush joins thousands paying respects to Rev Billy Graham
It is the first time a private citizen has been accorded such recognition since civil rights hero Rosa Parks in 2005. Bush said in a statement reported by the Houston Chronicle, "Billy Graham was America's pastor".

This entire investigation was instigated by whistleblowing doctor Grigory Rodchenkov, who was director of Russia's anti-doping laboratory during Sochi 2014.

Letting them do so would be the IOC's "worst decision", he said.

'Subject to continued compliance with the IOC EB decision of December 5, the suspension of the ROC is considered to be lifted once it is confirmed there are no additional doping cases by members of the OAR delegation'. CAS annulled the results of the athletes and disqualified the Russian.

"Thomas Bach was a drowning man", lawyer Jim Walden said on the weekend.

In a statement sent to Russia's official state news agency TASS, the ROC said: "We hope and we very much expect that in the next few days the ROC's membership in the International Olympic Committee will be fully reinstated". The Russian delegation had stockpiled uniforms with the Russian flag in preparation.

"We hope and really count on that in the next few days, the membership of the Russian Olympic Committee in the IOC will be completely restored", it said in a statement.

"I would like to thank our athletes who were able to perform well even despite the provocations", Zhukov said. "The acrimony caused by Bach's mismanagement should be his undoing", the lawyer further added.
