Oscars Best Picture Mistake in 2017 - What Went Wrong, What Happened Next?

The duo presented a year ago to coincide with the 50th anniversary of their classic film Bonnie and Clyde, but after an envelope mix-up by the accountants of PricewaterhouseCoopers, they accidentally gave the award to La La Land instead of Moonlight.

The happy drama will finally close the circle of last year's still-unbelievable Oscar disaster in which Beatty received the wrong envelope to present the final best picture award with Dunaway. When Warren opened up the envelope, he looked a little confused and ultimately let Faye announce the victor. Which momentarily had the cast and crew of La La Land (as well as viewers at home) convinced they'd won when in reality the victor was fellow indie darling Moonlight.

"I opened the envelope and it said, 'Emma Stone, La La Land, '" Beatty said.

Last Sunday, RAW superstars battled it out inside the Elimination Chamber match to earn a spot at the grandest stage of them all. Singh, who has worked with WWE in the past year, posted this new video to thank WWE for making her childhood dream come true.

Moonlight was the actual Best Picture victor. However, due to a mistake backstage, the two were handed the wrong envelope and read that La La Land had won the award.

As it turned out, PricewaterhouseCoopers accountant Brian Cullinan was the one to blame for placing the wrong envelope in the pair's hands - a colossal mistake that somehow had never happened before.

'I was about to tweet 'That's a wrap, ' says Thomas, who was the first woman ever hired by the academy to announce the Oscars - and will return this year for her ninth time. And we don't know what's going to happen this Sunday night. "I thought he was stalling". The error, it turned out, was a mix-up on the part of the accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, which handles the winning envelopes.
