Oakland Raiders release Aldon Smith as police issue warrant for linebacker's arrest

Less than 24 hours after being released by the Oakland Raiders, troubled pass-rusher Aldon Smith turned himself in to San Francisco police and he's now being held on $30,000 bond, according to ESPN. She reported to a police dispatcher about 8:30 p.m. that Smith was beating her at her residence in the 600 block of Bush Street. He then reportedly fled the scene in a black Range Rover before police officers arrived.

Per Evan Sernoffsky of the San Francisco Chronicle, Smith turned himself in after a warrant was issued for his arrest on misdemeanor charges of domestic violence, assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury, false imprisonment and vandalism. His bail has been set at $30,000.

A spokesman for the San Francisco County District Attorney's Office said Smith will be arraigned Monday.

Smith's fiancee spoke with TMZ and confirmed that she called police to report Smith had assaulted her on Saturday night, but she said she is mostly anxious about Smith getting help for his substance abuse problem.

While TMZ did not mention the woman's name in its latest report, the gossip site revealed about a week ago that Smith had proposed to his girlfriend Shawna McKnight. Smith signed with the Raiders the following month.

The 49ers released him 2015 after he was arrested and charged with his third drunken driving incident in four years.

Also on Tuesday, TMZ Sports reported that Smith's struggle with alcohol became so bad recently that "he was drinking every single day" and people close to him are concerned that "he'll drink himself to death if he continues down this road". She told TMZ.com that her family brought Smith to rehab.
