Celtics 117, Timberwolves 109: Boston clinches playoff spot

The Boston Celtics' Jaylen Brown was injured on a scary fall in last night's win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, but he says he's doing OK.

He went up for a dunk on a fast break and lost his balance on the way down, falling hard on the head, neck and upper back area when he was unable to break his fall.

The stretcher came out at Target Center after Brown remained on the ground for a couple of minutes, but he surprisingly was able to get up and walk off under his own power.

Thankfully, Brown started moving slowly as he regained consciousness and the former number three pick eventually was well enough to pick himself up and walk off the court to the applause of the crowd, who were glad to see the player well enough to leave of his own accord. He went to get a CT scan.

The Boston Celtics had a frightful sense of deja vu on Friday when young forward Jaylen Brown took a disgusting tumble after dunking. Irving finished with a team-high 23 points, eight assists and Al Horford stuffed the stat-sheet with 20 points, eight rebounds and six assists.

The Celtics capped off a three-game road trip with a 2-1 record, making them 5-1 in their past six road games. Citing his experience as an announcer for National Football League games, TNT's Kevin Harlan immediately surmised that Brown had been "concussed", and the Celtics announced later that the second-year player was being evaluated for concussion-like symptoms.

Kyrie Irving flirts with triple-double and the Boston Celtics secure a spot in the playoffs.

The dynamic duo were in one fluid motion in the final frame - they combined for 15 of the C's 31 fourth-quarter points and shut the door on any potential Timberwolves comeback. Marcus Morris had 17 points off the bench and Jaylen Brown added 14 for the Celtics.

After losing three straight games before the All-Star break, the time off came at a ideal time for the Boston Celtics as they were able to rest and regroup in a bid to return to form for the second half of the season.
