During a conversation with her mom, Theron brought up weed as an alternative to taking sleeping pills, a suggestion that her mom agreed with.

In the central role as the titular "gringo" is David Oyelowo, who plays mild-mannered businessman Harold Soyinka, a low-level employee at a Chicago pharmaceuticals company run by a pair of amoral schemers in the form of Richard Rusk (Joel Edgerton) and Elaine Markinson (Charlize Theron). "I really thought I would be the responsible one to have to go and get that", she quipped to Kimmel. "You got one life to live, why not?"

However, the Oscar victor was surprised when her mom showed up to her house one day with the goods.
