Nun in property dispute with Katy Perry dies after collapsing in court

They are now in a legal battle against Katy Perry, because the nuns planned to sell the property for a cool $15.5 million to a business woman named Dana Hollister, according to Just Jared.

The convent boasts gorgeous views of the San Gabriel Mountains and downtown Los Angeles.

The nuns had attempted to sell their 8-acre property, which had been the home to the Sisters of the Most Holy and Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary for four decades, to restauranter Dana Hollister. The cause of death has not yet been released, but experts think it could have to do with the fact that Holzman was eighty-nine-years-old.

The nuns left the property in 2011.

A judge voided Hollister's sale past year, saying the archdiocese had the right to sell the property, not the nuns.

Pop star Katy Perry spent more than $2 million fighting a group of elderly nuns for the ability to purchase their former convent.

In December a jury in LA awarded a total of $10 million in punitive damages to Perry and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles; It followed an earlier decision to award $5 million in compensatory damages divided between the two entities on November 17.

The nuns fear that because Perry's $14.5 million offer was made to the archdiocese - without the nuns being involved - they would never receive any money from the sale, Billboard reported in 2015. They also disapproved of Perry's sometimes "revealing" outfits on stage. Just that day, Sister Holzman had been interviewed by a Fox 11 reporter, Stephanie Stanton, where she asked for help from Pope Francis and for Perry to "please stop" as her continual involvement has "hurt a lot of people".

During a post-judgement hearing on Friday, Sister Holzman collapsed and died. They say their convent is under the direct control of the Vatican and has never been a part of the LA Archdiocese.

The case went to court and in 2016 Perry won the right to purchase the property.
