Mike Pouncey asks for release from Dolphins

The San Francisco 49ers reportedly have traded center Daniel Kilgore and a seventh-round pick to the Miami Dolphins for a seventh-rounder, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Pouncey was set to make around $8 million in 2018, but now he will be looking to sign with another team.

Selected by the 49ers in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of Appalachian State, Kilgore has appeared in 74 regular-season games, including 39 starts, and six postseason contests during his seven-year career.

For Pouncey it is an end to his career in Miami and he informed local media that he left everything on the field for the Dolphins, had no regrets, and would forever be a Miami Dolphin. Pouncey has given his heart and soul to the Dolphins and then some, so it is hard to blame him for refusing to take less money.

With the center position secure and more cap space freed up, the 49ers will likely look to upgrade at the guard position.

Three-time Pro Bowl center Mike Pouncey was released Thursday as part of an offensive line makeover. There's a good chance the Dolphins may not be done making moves. "I had a hell of a ride here".

WWE: Five BLOCKBUSTER Matches CONFIRMED for Wrestlemania 34
Even before the five-time women's champion could enjoy the victory, Asuka came to the ring and challenged her at Wrestlemania 34 . Their nemesis McMahon, who was super kicked by Owens, pulled each of them from a pin that could have won them the title.

In February, Kilgore, 30, the team's second-longest tenured player, had signed a three-year extension, but even he had termed it "team-friendly".

"On behalf of the entire organization I want to thank Dan for everything he contributed to this team and the Bay Area community over the last seven seasons", 49ers general manager John Lynch said in a statement. The 31-year-old sat out the final two contests of the 2017 season with an ankle injury.

Pouncey joins Ndamukong Suh, Jarvis Landry, Lawrence Timmons and Julius Thomas as veterans released or traded this offseason.
