Iowa unemployment rate holds at 2.9%; construction jobs continue to decline

MA added 13,700 jobs last month, including 13,100 private-sector jobs, according to statistics released Friday by the state Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.

As noted in Turkey's medium-term economic program, the targeted annual unemployment rate at the end of 2017 was 10.8 percent, 10.5 percent for this year, 9.9 percent for next year and 9.6 percent in 2020. The U.S. unemployment rate in February was 4.1 percent. The seasonally-adjusted number of unemployed people was almost the lowest in state history.

The manufacturing sector added 2,500 jobs during the month.

Trade, Transportation and Utilities added 1,700 (+0.3 percent) jobs over the month.

EDD said six of California's 11 industry sectors added a combined 23,500 jobs in February. If those people come back into the labor force, the rate could rise if job growth is not sufficient to accommodate those people.

Counties with the lowest unemployment rates are: Shelby County at 3.1 percent, Cullman County at 3.6 percent, and Marshall, Madison and Blount Counties at 3.7 percent. The U.S. growth rate during the same period was 1.7 percent.

Local rates are not seasonally adjusted.

IL has the 39th highest jobless rate nationally and the second highest in the Midwest after only MI. "Last year had the weakest job growth of any year since the end of the Great Recession".

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 3.5 percent is the lowest rate since April 2008.

Numerous job gains in February were seasonal and showed a recovery from steep falloffs in January.

Between December 2016 and December 2017, total non-farm employment grew by 1.5 percent.

Ohio's labor force participation rate was 62.6 percent, unchanged from January, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Friday. These numbers are based on a survey of employers. As a result, the two statistics may exhibit different monthly trends. Employment in the Information sector remained stable.
