Logitech Crayon and Rugged Combo 2 enhance the iPad (2018) experience

During today's education-focused Let's Take A Field Trip presentation from Apple, the tech giant revealed a number of new advancements with regard to the iconic iPad, including a suite of AR apps centered around Apple's own ARKit. It has a battery life of 8-hours and can last a full day of use. It's also slated to retail for $49 dollars, which is a considerable discount over the $99 Apple Pencil, assuming the user is actually interested in using a stylus at all. This will protect the new iPad when students accidentally drop it or abuse it.

In addition to the Crayon, Logitech and Apple also announced a new iPad case with a built-in keyboard called the Rugged Combo 2.

The Apple Pencil wasn't designed with children in mind, so Logitech's Crayon updates those features to make it a more kid-friendly option.

The detachable keyboard has been redesigned so the keycaps are pry-resistant in order to prevent keys from needing to be replaced.

With the announcement of a new 9.7-inch iPad with Apple Pencil support which primarily targets the education market with its $429 CAD price, Logitech has unveiled a new $49 USD Digital Crayon for the new iPad, that promises to put art and handwriting within the reach of more schools (via Engadget). Crayon does have support for tilt, though, with Logitech saying it also offers low latency and "sub-pixel precision".

Logitech has announced a pair of accessories for the newly announced 6th-generation iPad: the Logitech Crayon and Logitech Rugged Combo 2. The keyboard has a spill-resistant design and is silent so as to not disturb other students. At half the price, the Crayon is a great alternative to the Apple Pencil, if you're okay with the chunkier design.

The Logitech Rugged Combo 2 and Crayon are priced at $99.99 and $49.99, respectively, and will be available for purchase to schools and school districts in the USA starting this summer. Logitech says it will begin offering them to schools in the summer. All other trademarks are the property of their respective owners.
