The number of Canadians signing up to become organ donors following the tragic bus crash in Saskatchewan that killed fifteen people has risen dramatically.

His godfather, Neil Langevin, said Boulet had signed his donor card shortly after turning 21 in March.

As April is "Be A Donor Month" the idea for the public outreach was meant to "make a lot more noise" to educate people about the importance of registering as an organ donor, said the organization's president and CEO Ronnie Gavsie.

According to Gavsie, on that day Trillium saw a "dramatic uptick" in registrations in Ontario - 182 compared to 30 on the previous Sunday.

Sally Johnson, director of organ donation and transplantation at NHS Blood and Transplant, said: "I am so grateful to all those families who have chosen to help others at a time of personal tragedy".

You can go to to find out more about signing up. As a part of its pilot project called "university students organ donation campaign", the DMER has sent "organ donation pledge forms" to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik and the forms will be distributed among the principals of colleges coming under MUHS.

The event, which was put on by Trillium Gift of Life Network - the provincial body responsible for organ donation in Ontario - consisted of organ transplant recipients holding doors for rush hour commuters and handing out toy hearts as an act of kindness, or a way to "pay it forward", Farinha explains.

"Today, approximately 117,000 people are waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant", Poythress said.

"Until it impacts your life directly, people just don't take action", Allen says.

"The decision to donate organs is a powerful gift, made more poignant because it often happens at an incredibly hard time", said Alberta Deputy Premier and Minister of Health Sarah Hoffman. He had made it known to his family that this was his wish, according to Langevin.
