Rockies-Padres Brawl: Nolan Arenado Charges Mound, Sparks Wild Fracas

Coming into Wednesday afternoon's contest between the Colorado Rockies and San Diego Padres at Coors Field, there were two main concerns for the home team; a general lack of fire (urgency) and an offense that seemed entirely dependant upon the home run ball in order to score runs.

But now Arenado, Perdomo, German Marquez, Gerardo Parra, and A.J. Ellis were thrown out as the Rockies hope to take down the Padres in Denver. When the fracas was over, the three Rockies, as well as Perdomo and San Diego catcher A.J. Ellis, were ejected.

The brawl came on the heels of two Padres outfielders getting hit by pitches during the series - Manuel Margot on Tuesday and Hunter Renfroe earlier in Wednesday's game. That forced him to the disabled list on Wednesday morning, with the Padres calling his injury "bruised ribs".

The Rockies struck the first blow when Trevor Story blasted a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning off Joey Lucchesi to get the game started and Colorado on the board. That's when Perdomo threw his second pitch of the inning: his glove, which sailed past Arenado as he leapt in the air.

Roma coach Di Francesco praised for invention after ousting Barca
I was not overly happy at half-time to be honest. "The coach is the one who has to take responsibility", he added. At Anfield the first goal from (Mohamed) Salah is offside.

ST. LOUIS - Matt Albers got his first save for Milwaukee, retiring Kolten Wong and Dexter Fowler to strand a pair of runners. He's 0-1 with a 5.73 ERA in two career starts against the Nats, but 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA in his lone lifetime start on South Capitol Street.

The Rockies and Padres have traded hit batters in recent days. Host Cleveland scored four runs in the fourth off Daniel Norris, who replaced Zimmermann. That ended Lucchesi's line at six-plus innings, with two runs allowed on four hits. Texas shortstop Elvis Andrus has a broken right elbow after being hit by a pitch in the ninth inning. Colorado's 101 strikeouts are second in the National League behind San Deigo, who won back-to-back games for the first time this season.

White Sox 2, Rays 1: Matt Davidson hit a two-run homer off Austin Pruitt in the eighth inning for host Chicago.
