Allegiant Air responds to critical "60 Minutes" report

Allegiant Air responds to critical

Both DeNardi and Savanthi Syth, airline analyst at Raymond James, said they expect the airline to lose relatively few bookings because of the 60 Minutes report.

Quad Citians have mixed opinions about flying Allegiant Airlines after a 60 Minutes Piece aired Sunday night saying the airline had more than 100 serious mechanical incidents between January 1, 2016 and October 2017. As of February 2, Allegiant operated 37 McDonnell-Douglas MD-80 planes and 53 Airbus A320 jets. The five, who were interviewed on camera, detailed experiences ranging from disappointment to anger to trauma.

Responding to growing pressure on its regulation of Allegiant, the FAA said it was "committed to pursuing the highest level of aviation safety".

In a letter sent to its customers, Allegiant Air Vice President of Operations Captain Eric Gust called the 60 Minutes report "irresponsible, grossly misleading".

Allegiant Air is under fire following a 60 Minutes report that aired on April 15th showing its planes were three-times more likely have to mechanical problems compared to most of its competitors.

During its review of the airline, the FAA "did not find any systemic safety or regulatory problems, but it did identify a number of less serious issues, which Allegiant addressed".

But safety experts say the numbers tell another story.

Bryce Harper breaks bat on 406-ft home run
Breaking your bat in two though, is extremely rare, and something that might have happened just once before . Since the start of last season he has hit.377 (23-of-61) with six homers and 13 RBIs against them.

Nelson has asked Department of Transportation inspector general Calvin Scovel to specifically review internal communications between the FAA and Allegiant "to ensure that no efforts are being undertaken to impede a full and forthright investigation of the airline's maintenance and operational issues". After announcing an expansion at the airport last June, the airline in November celebrated 10 years and 10 million passengers through the airport.

There are flights offered from Pease International Tradeport in Portsmouth to Myrtle Beach in SC, as well as Daytona Beach, Orlando and Fort Myers in Florida.

"I have encouraged my family, my friends and myself not to fly on Allegiant". Today it has 27 MD-80s and 73 Airbus jets.

"The FAA exercises rigorous oversight of Allegiant, as they do all airlines operating in the United States". Several anonymous, non-disciplinary reporting systems are available through Allegiant as well as through the FAA for team members to report safety concerns. She added that she will leave the safety issues "up to the professionals at the corporate level at Allegiant and hope they are as concerned about safety as much as we are". "Anything less could lead to disastrous consequences".

According to its website, Allegiant Air has nearly 130 flights to and from destinations in the United States and Puerto Rico.

The Punta Gorda Airport (PGD) has developed a strong relationship with Allegiant since it began service here in 2009, and our management believes the company is committed to a culture of safety and reliability.
