TDP joined NDA only for Andhra's benefits, no political gain: CM Naidu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will also address the gathering by showing visuals of Prime Minister Modi making promises to Andhra four years ago from the temple premises.

"We have been relentlessly fighting against the centre for the rights of people of Andhra Pradesh".

The chief minister said at the election campaign meeting in this "most sacred" city of Tirupati that Modi had promised to offer SCS, a lovely capital city and other infrastructure to Andhra if the NDA was voted to power.

The TDP, which pulled out of the NDA government in March over its refusal to grant special status to the state, screened on a giant screen three different videos of Modi's speeches. Narendra Modi promised to build a capital better than Delhi while standing here.

"Polavaram project is a boon for people of the State given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and this project work was proceeding fast after villages affected with this project were merged in AP", Haribabu said. "You gave funds to Gujarat (in the Union budget) and even Mumbai, but not to us", said Naidu, addressing a massive public meeting at the "Dharma Porata Deeksha" (Fight For Justice) event in Tirupati. "I am up against the Prime Minister in my capacity as a chief minister", he said and lashed out at the YSR Congress for organising a protest in Vizag on a day when he was holding a meeting to highlight injustice done to the state.

Taking his fight against the BJP beyond the state, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, for the first time, has exhorted Telugus in poll-bound Karnataka to teach a lesson to the saffron party and stressed that it was their responsibility to do so. At that meeting, Modi had vowed to fulfil all the commitments made in Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.

He called upon the Telugus living in Karnataka to vote against the BJP in the next month's state Assembly elections.

Participating in the May Day celebrations here on Tuesday, he said that the State government was ready to allot land and asked the officials to prepare an action plan to implement the scheme this year.

Taking up the SCS issue as its main agenda by TDP, it want to win the hearts of the people ahead of general elections in 2019. "But now, he is colluding with a tainted party to attack us", he said. Though four years lapsed Narendra Modi has done nothing to the State.
