Whyte: Parker fight 'fell from the sky'

A highly significant and intriguing heavyweight contest was announced on Thursday, when it was confirmed that Dillian Whyte (23-1, 17 KOs) will clash with former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker (24-1, 18 KOs) at London's 02 Arena on July 28.

New Zealand's former world heavyweight champion Joseph Parker says he is willing to wage war with next opponent Englishman Dillian Whyte and the hope it earns the victor a world title bout.

Whyte was stopped in the seventh round by his fellow Brit in December 2015, while Parker lost his WBO belt to AJ on points in March.

The Whyte fight, with a mandatory challenging position against Joshua going to the victor, certainly fits that bill. "I was expecting from Dillian Whyte and his team to run away from the fight, but I didn't expect from them to be such bull**** artists", Pulev said in a statement. Whyte, though, seems to have found himself a willing opponent in the shape of Pulev - even if he fails to defeat Joseph Parker in London.

"He's a good fighter but he didn't show much courage against Joshua, hopefully he'll be a bit more adventurous and come to have a fight against me".

Despite maintaining decent fitness levels since his April 1 loss to Anthony Joshua, that time frame would place pressure on Parker, giving him just seven weeks to prepare.

"Beating Parker should nearly guarantee me a World title shot but let's see".

Parker was eager to take another major fight in Britain after his unbeaten record was ended by Joshua in Cardiff.

"I like challenges and I rise to them, this is a big fight and I'll be training very hard as always".

"Whatever happens, I'm not going to cry about it because there are only two champions now instead of three and they are probably going to fight eachother. That pretty much speaks for itself", said Parker - the only fighter to so far take Joshua the full distance. First of all I never refused and I still want to fight with you! It'll be an incredible fight. He's got a big mouth and says some amusing things - and he's also highly entertaining in the ring. "But, hey, if Hearn is misleading you somehow, let me tell you personally - I'm here and ready to beat your delusional ass back to reality".

Parker is eager to get back into action and wants a fight that is going to help get him back into title contention.
