Dennis Rodman arrives in Singapore ahead of Trump-Kim summit

The White House says Trump will leave Singapore Tuesday, because the talks have "moved more quickly than expected".

A man watches a TV screen showing file footage of US President Donald Trump (right) and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un during a news programme at the Seoul Railway Station in Seoul, South Korea.

Rodman, who is one of the few westerners to have met the North Korean leader, said last week he would "give whatever support is needed" to his "friends" Trump and Kim.

Trump, after meeting recently with a North Korean envoy at the White House, said the summit will likely be part of "a process".

Besides, Singapore's prime minister "wished Chairman Kim success for the US-DPRK Summit and expressed hope that the US-DPRK meeting will advance the prospects for peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and the larger region".

However, it now appears that the U.S.is confident tings are going smoothly.

The first-ever meeting between a USA president and a North Korean leader was to kick off at 9 a.m. Tuesday with a handshake, an image sure to be devoured from Washington to Pyongyang and beyond.

The two leaders will first meet face to face with only translators present before being joined by other officials from both nations for an expanded meeting and working lunch.

Citizens are traditionally told - pretty much from birth - that the United States and former colonial power Japan are the great enemies of the people of the Korean peninsula. He was received by Singapore's Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakrishnan.

His sister and close aide Kim Yo Jong is believed to have used it to travel separately to Singapore, echoing the United States practice of presidents and vice-presidents generally never flying together on Air Force One - or any other aircraft - to ensure one of them survives in the event of disaster.

Mr. Bolton, who has since become the president's national security adviser, made headlines as a private analyst at the time by advocating for pre-emptive strikes that could target North Korean missile facilities.

"The entire world is focusing on the historic summit between the DPRK (North Korea) and the USA, and thanks to your honest efforts".

Gorka also said that he was "very disappointed" in Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau following his remarks after the G7 Summit over the weekend.

An ageing soviet-era Ilyushin IL62 flew Kim's sister Yo-jong and other officials, while the leader himself arrived aboard an Air China Boeing 747.

The administration's long-term goal is what is described in diplomatic-speak as "complete, verifiable, and irreversible dismantlement" of the North's nuclear weapons arsenal and its long-range missile fleet.

She came into the global spotlight earlier this year as she attended the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, leading the North Korean delegation at the games.

In short, the US wants Kim to agree to give up his atomic weapons.

"I know Singapore is a very hot country, so I wish that our respected marshal stays healthy and comes back in good health".

"It's unknown territory in the truest sense but I really feel confident", Trump said.

Trump has also raised the possibility of further summits and an agreement ending the Korean War by replacing the armistice signed in 1953 with a peace treaty.
