The future for the Xbox One, and Microsoft's gaming arm as a whole, hasn't been as bright as it is now after a massively successful.

Square Enix first announced Kingdom Hearts III in 2013.

The Xbox event was packed with cinematic snippets or play of 52 games, including new instalments to blockbuster franchises such as "Fallout" and "Halo". But it seems the gaming giants are getting ready for its arrival.

It bodes well not just for the sheer volume of content available to Xbox players, but to the diversity of that content.

But towards the end of their presentation, Executive President of Gaming Phil Spencer talked about the future of Xbox, and what that might look like. We've been given the freedom to explore, try new things and operate like an independent studio, with the backing from one of the biggest companies in the world to do something bold and different.

To give us a closer look at what we can expect from Forza Horizon 4, Playground Games' Ralph Fulton took the stage for a brief time this afternoon. Microsoft also is forming a new studio called The Initiative in Santa Monica, Calif., to be headed by industry veteran Darrell Gallagher. Halo Infinite is the next chapter of the legendary franchise that is developed by 343 Industries and created with its new Slipspace Engine.

After action-packed jaunts through Colorado, the Cote d'Azur and the Australian outback, the latest installment of Turn 10's open-world Forza Horizon racing series is coming to somewhere we're much more familiar with: Great Britain.
