China vows to retaliate as U.S. imposes fresh tariffs

Those could come if China would impose new tariffs on US goods, services, agricultural products, or raise non-tariff barriers, and take actions against American or companies operating in China, according to the statement. He further said the China's decision to impose tariffs on U.S. products was necessiated by the circumstances that arose out of the United States violations of global obligation.

The US has in recent weeks also slapped tariffs on products from other countries, including its allies.

The warning from Beijing comes as the U.S. prepares to levy new tariffs on $50bn worth of Chinese imports.

The list does not include cellular telephones or televisions, which are often purchased by American consumers.

The Dow fell almost 200 points on Friday after the tariffs were announced. Among the affected $16 billion in USA goods include crude oil, natural gas, coal and some refined oil products.

Over 800 Chinese products worth $34 billion were included in Trump's initial list.

His first World Cup goal was followed by a brilliant second in stoppage time to win the game for England . "I'm really proud. England will be heavily favoured against Panana next Sunday. " Harry Maguire's potential is huge", said Southgate.

Before the Chinese measures were announced, Lu Kang, a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry in Beijing, warned that China's reaction would be swift and "of the same scale and intensity". China's Commerce Ministry released a statement early Saturday morning insisting the country did not want a trade war, but would nonetheless "fight back vigorously" now that the U.S.is starting one. "It seriously violates the legitimate rights and interests of our country", the statement reads in part, "and damages the interests of our country and people".

The Chinese government said the tariffs were damaging relations and China's offer to buy up to $70 billion of additional American products was invalid. "China is our real trade enemy, and their theft of intellectual property and their refusal to let our companies compete fairly threatens millions of future American jobs", Schumer said in a statement on Friday.

U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer described the tariffs Friday as a "defensive" action. Concerns about the effects of Chinese tariffs and the ongoing renegotiations of the North America Free Trade Agreement were cited as concerns.

"We have a tremendous intellectual property theft problem", Trump said at the time.

US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin traveled to China last month for a round of trade talks, reportedly demanding that Beijing reduce its trade surplus by $200 billion.

Yichuan Cao/Sipa USA/NewscomThe trade war between Washington and Beijing escalated again today. They mentioned aerospace, information and communications technology, robotics and industrial machinery. The US now dominates those industries, but the Chinese government support has made it hard for US companies to compete.
