Melania Trump's jacket: ‘I really don't care

"Do U?" ahead of her unannounced visit to a child detention center in Texas, drawing criticism from those who saw the wardrobe choice as insensitive.

With that said, the First Lady was either made aware of her mistake, or figured it out herself, as she disembarked the plane in Texas, wearing a cream colored military-style jacket instead.

"It's a jacket. There was no hidden message", Grisham said in a statement.

First Lady Melania Trump has been criticised for the choice of her jacket worn on a trip to a migrant child detention centre in Texas.

Melania Trump's empathetic visit to the Mexican border risks being overshadowed by the unempathetic message on the back of her jacket.

The first lady's visit to Upbring New Hope Children's Center on Thursday comes after President Donald Trump signed an executive order halting the practice of separating families.

And members on the fence over pending immigration legislation headed to the White House to meet with Trump. And children at the shelters were found to be "hysterical, crying and acting out".

Trump's spokeswoman denied that the jacket had any special significance.

Mrs. Trump was reportedly an influence in her husband's decision to sign executive action to keep families together during border processing. In public appearances, the first lady has worn designs by Dolce & Gabbana, Del Pozo, Christian Dior, Emilio Pucci, Givenchy and Valentino, often with daringly high Christian Louboutin heels.

She told children to "be kind and nice to each other" as she left one classroom and said she wanted to lend her support to the children, and asked staff to reunite them with their families as quickly as possible. She was on top of the situation before any of that came out. They were transferred to a residential center near Dilley, Texas, where she was told that she and her family had a credible asylum claim, but that her sons would be taken to a shelter in NY while she remained in Texas. "We don't like to see families separated", Trump said. More than 2,300 children have been separated from their parents, and thousands of families are likely to remain fractured.

Instead, the first lady spent an hour-plus at the shelter, talking directly to children who spoke to her either in English or in Spanish, through a translator.

On Wednesday, the president signed an executive order created to end the family-separation policy. In May, Trump unveiled her "Be Best" platform, which outlined three predominant avenues of focus: health and well being; kindness and safety online; and highlighting the effects of the opioid crisis on children and families.
