Instagram adds life to 'Stories', users can now add soundtracks

Instagram is adding a feature which allows users to implement soundtracks in Stories. Once you have finalised the song, you can fast-forward and rewind through the track to choose the right part for your story. It will then play in the background as you record the video. Instagram says its library has thousands of songs available, and you can listen to previews before you decide to add them to your post. What's more, you can even pick a song before capturing a video.

"We're adding new songs to our music library every day". A sticker will tell them the song title and artist name.

Mashable are reporting that the new feature will be rolling out on iOS and Android from today (Thursday 28 June), so all you may need to do is update the app on your phone, and you're set!

Music will be added through "stickers", which will appear beside location, GIF, and other sticker add-ons. This resolves a common user complaint regarding the inability to record an Instagram story while playing music from another app.

The feature is now available only in a few selected countries and Instagram is working towards launching the feature in more countries. The ability to choose a song before capturing a video is limited to the iOS app at the moment.

After tapping to add a sticker to a photo or video in Stories, users will see a music icon - which they can select to add a soundtrack to their content.
