Teen soccer team may be stuck in Thailand cave for months

And cave-diving experts from around the world have been sent in to help with the rescue effort - including 30 members of the US Air Force.

The boys and their coach did not know what day it was when the divers found them.

Engineers have been pumping water out of the cave for a week and a temporary respite from the rains has lowered water levels.

He said the diving teams included doctors.

A video shot by the rescuers in flickering torchlight 4km from the mouth of the cave in Thailand's northernmost province showed boys clad in shorts and red and blue shirts sitting or standing on the rock above an expanse of water.

"Diving is not easy". The rescuers had to fight a current as they pulled themselves through narrow, flooded passages by gripping the walls.

If a dive rescue is not possible, they face a wait of months underground until monsoon rains end and the water recedes.

The map shows how complicated it will be to get them out.

A doctor and a nurse were with them in the cave.

"The Royal Thai Government and the Thai people are grateful for this support and cooperation, and we all wish the team a safe and speedy recovery", Prayuth's office said in a statement. "Maybe some of the boys have injuries or light injuries and would be categorized as yellow condition".

"I want to hug my son... usually our family sleep in the same bed together".

"This is one of the more extreme cave dives that I have done, " Reymenants told Sky News.

Trump says he has interviewed 4 candidates for high court
Wade (1973), the case that legalized abortion at the federal level. Casey (1992), he joined the plurality opinion upholding Roe v. Wade , leaving it up to states whether to allow abortion.

Finding the boys took more than nine days, partly because of how hard it is to move around the cave. "I've missed him every second". It was most likely dry when they entered, but rushing waters later clogged the way back with mud and debris.

The group had entered the cave in northern Thailand on June 23 before flooding cut off the main entrance.

In both of the videos the boys have appeared in good spirits.

How can they get out?

Osatanakorn said the 13 people have all had an "informal" medical evaluation inside the cave and most are in stable condition and none are in critical condition.

"Taking them in the water would be extremely unsafe for the kids and the coach - but also for the rescuers".

The rescuer tells them "you are very strong", but soon the traditional reserve of Thai children toward adults breaks a bit, and one tells another in Thai, "Tell them we are hungry". "We must bring the kids out before then", said Anupong Paojinda, the interior minister, according to Bang kok Post. You just have to be comfortable.to overcome that fear and learn. The rescue diver replies, "England, U.K".

However, Osottanakorn said when rescuers reached Pattaya Beach they found it too was underwater. But the days-long rescue operation isn't over, as rescuers still need to figure out how to get the team out of the cave. "They need another 3 or 4 feet so they can literally float them out with life jackets".

"'Time is not on our side - we're expecting heavy rain in three days", he told BBC Newsnight on Monday.

Pipob also said some Thai media were to blame, adding that instead of focusing on heavy criticism against the deputy police chief's work, it should have educated the public by providing information about the cave: from its ecosystem and dangers to survival and prevention guides.

"The forecast rainfall means there will not be much time to teach the boys and coach them in how to swim using scuba equipment". USA and Australian military personnel came to support Thai authorities, as well as technical experts from the U.K., China, Japan and elsewhere.

Other solutions would be considered, such as draining water from the cave and exploring the mountainside for shafts and other entrances to the caverns below.
