Gazza's message for Southgate and his England squad

Gazza's message for Southgate and his England squad

England defeated Sweden 2-0 in the quarterfinals to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup for the first time in 32 years.

So what are you waiting for?

After England gave up a tying goal to Brazil in first-half stoppage time in the 2002 Soccer World Cup quarter-finals, Southgate felt coach Sven-Goran Eriksson lacked inspirational oratory in the locker room at half-time.

There are a few familiar faces: Simon Rodger, who went on to play nearly 300 games for Palace, is in the middle row with the shock of blond hair; Chris Powell, who played for England and is now managing Southend, is in the middle; and, on the front row, sitting next to me, is Gareth Southgate.

Can you name the starting XI from Southgate's match in charge?

"Growing up and watching England, to be a part of it with the lads...it is an wonderful achievement form everyone here and we can't wait to get going against Croatia".

"I think we feel that is of no bearing to this team", Southgate said.

Russian officials said almost 7,000 more England fans ordered a Fan ID after England's quarter-final win against Sweden on Saturday.

Southgate said that although England had made history in the manner in which they had progressed to the last four, there was the potential for much more. So, I went to the kit-man and I borrowed a pair of black goalkeeper socks.

"No-one wants to go home".

Kris Tarplee has ordered a new black embroidered waistcoat on Amazon Prime, he said: 'My waistcoat should be with me by tomorrow.

"I have been in sport in different areas for long enough to know what my life is day to day".

"As a player and as a professional I know that I have a job, on and off the pitch, to inspire people and inspire kids watching this tournament".

"Obviously we've been very strong at set-pieces so continuing to work on them and exploiting Croatia's weaknesses will be vital again".

"To see the fans, all the videos and how emotional it is to them, we want to do so well and make them celebrate even more".

But the odds on Southgate receiving a knighthood are sure to shorten further if England reach the World Cup final.
