The original "Mamma Mia!" stage musical and then film weaves together Abba songs to tell the story of Sophie, who plans her wedding on a Greek island alongside her free-spirited mother, Donna, and sets out to identify who her father is, with comic results. I mean, she steals the movie!'

Not only is it the first time the three-time Oscar victor has appeared in a sequel to one of her films, it's also the first time she's reunited on screen with former Silkwood co-star Cher.

This aligns perfectly with what other stars have said about a particularly emotional moment in the movie with Streep in that exact setting.

Consequently, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again relies on the Swedish pop group's lesser known album tracks to reflect characters' whirling emotions, interspersed with euphoric reprises of Dancing Queen, Super Trouper and the title track.

The sequel's cast additions include Lily James, who plays the younger Donna, and Cher, who portrays Donna's mother. But I won't spoil that for you. "We're now "besties". The first time we spoke on the phone she called me "babe" and I was just silenced... until I asked her to do it again!".
