First woman fined in Denmark for wearing full-face veil

According to a local media reports, a 28-year-old woman has been fined after an altercation with another woman who was trying to pull her niqab off at a shopping centre in Horsholm, near Copenhagen. They're investigating CCTV footage to see if the other woman had deliberately tried to rip off the niqab.

"During the fight her niqab came off, but by the time we arrived she had put it back on again", Borchersen told Ritzau.

The woman was fined $156 for wearing a full face veil in public and asked to either take the garment off or leave the shopping centre.

They said both women were charged with violating the peace and said one had also been charged with violating the full-face veil law.

The "Burqa Ban", which was passed in late May, was immediately criticized by worldwide human rights organizations that called it a blatant attack on Islamic citizens of Denmark.

Since August 1, the country's much-debated "Burqa Ban" has prohibited full-body burqas, as well the niqab - Muslim dress which only shows the eyes.

Moto Z3 Unboxing and First Look!
After a lot of unnecessary hype, Motorola simply announced the Moto Z3 smartphone at its headquarters in Chicago yesterday. But the 5G Moto Mod opens up several possibilities without encumbering the smartphone with additional embedded hardware.

Danish protesters dressed in burkas, masks and false beards to defy a new law outlawing the wearing of veils in public.

People are allowed to cover their face when there is a "recognisable purpose" such as protection from cold weather, or cycling helmets.

Repeated violators will be fined up to 10,000 kroner ($1,560).

Human rights campaigners have slammed the ban for violation of women's rights, while supporters argue the ban enables better integration of Muslim immigrants into Danish society.

Belgium, France, Germany and Austria have already imposed bans or partial bans.
