OH defendant had mouth taped shut while in court

And that's when deputies taped Williams' mouth shut on the orders of Judge John Russo, who was frustrated that Williams kept talking during sentencing, despite receiving multiple warnings to be quiet.

Franklyn Williams, 32, was charged with a slew of crimes, including aggravated robbery, theft, kidnapping, misuse of credit cards, and unlawful possession of a weapon. Before Russo could deliver his decision, Williams reportedly refused to stop talking.

Angrily, the judge responded, "Mr. Williams, I'm the judge in the matter". In order to combat the chatty defendant, Russo ordered to have his mouth taped shut by six deputies.

However, Williams continued to interrupt.

A black man was forced to have his mouth taped over because the judge presiding over his court case wanted to stop him from talking.

Eventually, Judge Russo sentenced Williams to 24 years in prison.

His trial began late past year, but hit a snag when he cut his ankle bracelet.

It didn't get any better for Williams. "My intent was never to silence Mr. Williams", the Cuyahoga County judge added.

Rudy Giuliani keeps moving the bar on the Mueller investigation
On Fox News, Dershowitz said if there's a conviction, it would give Mueller an opportunity to question Manafort about the president's actions.

And when he chirped up again, the judge said: "I'm going to tape it, and then I'll unzip it when I want you to talk". "You'll get a chance to talk". I don't even remember me going to a trial.

Video filmed inside the court shows Williams speaking as Ruso repeatedly tells him to be quiet, Fox8 reports. "But we can't do it at the same time or yelling over each other", he said.

Williams said he's angry his lawyer didn't do more to speak up for him.

"He would have his time, as I did, I gave him an opportunity to speak when it was an appropriate time", Judge Russo said.

Williams, 32, was being sentenced for armed robbery at the time and talked nearly continuously during the hearing.

In any other circumstance, Williams would be held in contempt of court.

An appeals court sided with him and threw out the sentence, ordering a second trial.
