Trump Mueller investigation: President could take LEGAL ACTION against any court demands

Trump also denied reports in the Washington Post and CNN that he was concerned his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., could be in legal trouble because of the meeting with the Russians, including a lawyer with Kremlin ties. "I did not know about it!"

While originally Trump, a Republican, said the meeting was about adoptions, on Sunday he said on Twitter that it was about getting information on Clinton.

Trump's morning Twitter post was his most direct statement on the objective of the meeting, though his son and others have said it was to gather damaging information on the Democratic candidate.

Rep. Adam Schiff of California, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said Sunday there is "plenty of evidence of collusion or conspiracy in plain sight" regarding the Trump campaign and Russian Federation.

Until now Mr Trump had claimed that Donald Jr met Natalia Veselnitskaya and other Kremlin lobbyists at Trump Tower in June 2016 to discuss adoptions.

Sekulow added that he has "no knowledge" of whether federal investigators are probing one of the attendees of the meeting, Donald Trump Jr., even as critics charge that the secretive discussion might have run afoul of campaign finance law.

On Monday, a CNN panel tried to make sense of the administration's ever-shifting justifications for the meeting-and the ramifications for Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into collusion between the Russian government and the Trump campaign.

President Trump continued to ramp up his onslaught against the media on Sunday, warning news outlets can "also cause war" and claiming he is helping Americans by pointing out how news outlets are biased against him.

The county has also provided dumpster sites for residents as far south as Bonita Springs to dispose of dead fish. About 100 miles of the Florida shore have been affected, and the red tide looks like a persistent one.

Sunday's tweet appears to acknowledge that the meeting was actually predicated on opposition research: "This was a meeting to get information on an opponent".

Trump might as well have just confirmed The Post's report that he is anxious about what the meeting portends for his son.

"Donald Trump is every attorney's worst nightmare", said Rick Wilson, a Republican political consultant and prominent Trump critic.

He said: "You have to look at what laws, rules, regulations, statutes are purportedly violated here".

In bashing the Democrats, President Trump referenced comments from former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino, who told Fox News of a tape that host Sean Hannity had played on his radio show of Schiff seeking to obtain damaging information on Trump from Russians.

The Post had reported that the statement to The Times was dictated by the president, though at the time Trump's lawyers denied his involvement.

Later Sunday, Jay Sekulow, one of the president's lawyers, defended the 2016 meeting.
