Google to discontinue ‘Inbox by Gmail’ from March 2019

Launched in 2014, Inbox didn't see the popularity of Google's near-ubiquitous email app, Gmail. Inbox was Google's effort at email innovation in a mobile-centric era, and with its departure, we could see another prolonged period of Gmail stagnation. There are still some features that have yet to make the migration from the Inbox, particularly the "bundles" feature that group similar emails into one single block, but Google said this is coming to Gmail. This added functionality pulled a good number of users away from Gmail as they added to the email experience without combining the usual headaches caused by using third-party email clients.

If you need a little help moving on, but still want tabbed emails, pinning and more, hit the links below the story to learn how.

Over the years features from Inbox have migrated over to Gmail including smart reply and most recently snoozing. Inbox by Gmail, on the other hand, won't be shutting down until March 2019. The change comes into effect soon after the search giant rolled out a design overhaul for Gmail from June this year.

The page suggests alternatives for the Inbox features pin, bundles and reminders.

Three new iPhones could be on the cards this week
This goes against previous rumors that the largest iPhone would carry the "Max" moniker instead of plus, so take that as you will. The iPhone XS will have the same 5.8-inch OLED display, whereas the iPhone XS Max will have a massive 6.5-inch OLED display.

The impact: This means that for those that use Inbox for their email, they'll need to look elsewhere to deal with email.

Inbox has pioneered numerous features that are now part of the new Gmail.

Inbox, Google's innovative app for email, has received its death sentence.

Google has announced that features from Inbox that haven't been added to Gmail yet may be added in the future. The cross-platform app was created to clean up the mess of your Gmail inbox by categorizing mail by type such as social media notifications, promotional emails, spam, and your regular correspondence.
