SpaceX Signs its First Private Passenger to Fly 'Round the Moon

SpaceX said late Thursday it had signed the world's first private passenger to fly around the Moon.

Elon Musk's SpaceX announced on Twitter that it had signed its first private passenger to make a trip around the moon aboard its BFR, or Big Falcon Rocket, launch vehicle.

At the time, Musk said the pair approached SpaceX about sending them on a weeklong flight and paid a "significant" deposit for the trip.

SpaceX has also set up a livestream for the announcement on Monday.

The person's identity will be revealed on Monday, Space Exploration Technologies Corp. said in a tweet. "That would be on a Dragon 2 spacecraft and a Falcon Heavy rocket, which is due to do its maiden launch this summer".

CBS's Jeff Fager: 60 Minutes producer out amid #MeToo claims
In a statement to CNN , Fager said his axing "had nothing to do with the false allegations printed in The New Yorker ". Moonves said he would only pay a tiny fraction of the penalties, my incredulous agent asked what he should tell me".

The company has stated that more details about the event's activities will be announced closer to the event itself and that it would last for about an hour-and-a-half (from 5:30 p.m.to 7:00 p.m. PDT). Now the billionaire wants to offer the world's first private lunar passenger flight.

Ever wondered who owns the moon? We're probably looking at years of testing and planning before the BFR is ready to carry a human passenger, and taking them to the moon and back is much different than ferrying someone to the ISS.

In 2017, Japanese internet conglomerate SofBbank, which runs the $93 billion SoftBank Vision Fund, invested in satellite broadband provider OneWeb, a business which SpaceX is also interested in, according to leaked documents obtained by Quartz.

The tourist will fly in the Big Falcon Rocket (BFR) being created to carry people into deep space, the Elon Musk led company said in a tweet.
