Jersey Shore star Mike Sorrentino was sentenced to eight months in prison and two years of supervised release for tax evasion on Friday.

As The Hollywood Reporter explains, Michael and his brother Marc Sorrentino were both charged in 2014 and again previous year for multiple counts of dodging taxes relating to some $9 million United States dollars in income. His attorney was hoping for probation, but the government had pushed for at least a 14-month prison term.

Kingeman said his client has worked diligently to overcome substance abuse in the time since his arrest.

Sorrentino's brother, Marc, also pleaded guilty and faces sentencing Friday.

Striking Russian missile facilities in Russia could very likely trigger war and would require a massive U.S. military effort. While Russia has denied that the system violates the INF, NATO says the treaty is in jeopardy of unraveling.

As part of his sentence, the reality TV star has to complete 500 hours of community service when he is released. Sorrentino reportedly paid no taxes in 2011, despite making somewhere around $2 million.

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Vinny Guadagnino, Deena Cortese, Pauly "DJ Pauly D" DelVecchio, Jenni "JWoww" Farley, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro and Angelina Pivarnick were all spotted outside the courthouse, along with Sorrentino's fiancée, Lauren Pesce.

The attorney said he asked the judge to allow Sorrentino another 30 to 60 days before he surrenders to authorities so he can marry his fiancee, Lauren Pesce.

John Tafur, head of IRS criminal investigations in Newark, called the brothers' crimes "an outright theft from the hardworking American public". He was given two years in prison and a fine of $75,000. Both men pleaded guilty in January and were facing up to 5 years in prison. The series ran for six seasons, ending in late 2012.
