In mid February, Doha will be the host of the WTA Qatar Ladies Open, one of the most important WTA tournaments of the month. In 2019, the event will be ranked as a Premier WTA tournament, while the nearby Dubai Open will be a Premier 5.
There is no downgrade in the tournament’s rank, as both Doha and Dubai hold alternatively one Premier 5 event each year.
Also know as the Qatar Total Open due to sponsorship reasons, the Doha tournament has been held since 2001. It gathers all the important tennis players in the WTA circuit.
The tournament will be held at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex. For any of you who want to attend the event, here’s the exact location of the arena. The stadium can host up to 7000 people, so we are pretty sure you’ll find a place. For tickets, please visit the official site.
You will have the chance to see some top female tennis players in 2019: Simona Halep, Karolina Pliskova, Angelique Kerber, Kiki Bertens and Caroline Wozniacki.
The tournament starts on February 11th and will end on Sunday, Feb 16. If you want to see more tennis in the Gulf region, you can travel to Dubai, as many of the players will do after the Doha Open.
